Kwasi Kwarteng
Member of the UK Parliament



Kwasi Kwarteng is a Member of the UK Parliament. His parents immigrated to Britain from their native Ghana as students in the 1960s. At the age of 13, he won a scholarship to Eton College. He went on to read history at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he earned a Ph.D. in British history.

Mr. Kwarteng then worked as a financial analyst, journalist and author. He was elected to Parliament in May 2010, to represent Spelthorne, a borough south of London.

His book, "Ghosts of Empire: Britain's Legacies in the Modern World," was published in early 2012.
