Europeans credit the EU with promoting peace and prosperity on the continent, but feel it is out of touch with its citizens.

• Pew Research Center has surveyed citizens in 10 EU member states — Poland, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, UK, Greece, Sweden and France — as to their opinion of the European Union.
• A median of 74% think that the EU promotes peace, but 62% think that it does not understand the needs of its citizens.
