Fareed Zakaria has been the Editor of Newsweek International since October 2000.
He is a regular columnist for the domestic edition of Newsweek and his articles have also appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The New Republic and Slate.
Before his position at Newsweek, Mr. Zakaria joined Foreign Affairs in 1992 as the magazine’s youngest Managing Editor
Mr. Zakaria is a political analyst for ABC News, where he often serves as a regular member of the roundtable for ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos.
He has also written and edited several books; including “From Wealth to Power: The Unusual Origins of America’s World Role” (Princeton University Press).
His new book is “The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad,” which was published April 2003.
Esquire magazine named him “one of the 21 most important people of the 21st Century” in November 1999.
Mr. Zakaria received a B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. from Harvard.
