Korinna Horta
Senior Economist at Environmental Defense
Korinna Horta is a senior environmental economist in the international program of Environmental Defense, a leading U.S. non-profit organization representing 300,000 members.
Ms. Horta, who is based in both Washington and Lisbon, works with non-governmental organizations and policymakers around the world to promote socially equitable and environmentally sustainable development.
Ms. Horta is a Yale University Stimson Fellow, a former member of the board of Greenpeace Germany and has been a guest lecturer at several U.S. and European universities.
Ms. Horta has lived in South-East Asia for three years and is fluent in five languages. She completed her Ph.D. at the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London. She also holds an M.A. from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. and a degree in literature and linguistics from the New University of Lisbon, Portugal.
She has published op-ed pieces in the Washington Post, BostonGlobe, Los Angeles Times and Christian Science Monitor as well as magazine articles and several book chapters on human rights, global environmental politics and international financial institutions.
