Olivier Roy

Professor, School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences in Paris

Olivier Roy is a professor at EHESS, the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences in Paris. He is also research director at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Since 1984, Mr. Roy has also acted as a consultant to the French Foreign Ministry (Center for Analysis and Forecast).

Among his books are “The Failure of Political Islam,” “The New Central Asia” and (with Mariam Abou Zahab) “Islamist Networks: The Afghan-Pakistan Connection” (Columbia, 2004).
