Lisdey Espinoza Pedraza is currently the Head of Strategic Research and Higher Education at the British Council Latin America. She is also an independent politics and international relations researcher.

She holds a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, an MA in International Relations and World Order from the University of Leicester and a BA in International Relations from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City.

In addition, she has earned a postgraduate advanced certificate in Terrorism and Political Violence from the University of St Andrews, Scotland.

Her research interests include democratization processes, governance and theories of the state, Latin American and Russian politics, political parties, international relations theories and contemporary U.S.-Latin America foreign policy.

She has published work on democracy, migration, European politics and contemporary Mexican politics.
