Amy Houpt Medearis

Vice President and Europe Analyst for the G7 Group, Inc.

Amy Medearis is Vice President and Europe Analyst for the G7 Group, Inc., where she advises financial institution clients on European and global economic policy developments.

Ms. Medearis serves as the G7 Group’s senior analyst for the euro area, with a specified focus on the Germany, French and Italian economies.

She joined the G7 Group in early 1998 after working as Vice President of IAS, an international trade consulting firm in Washington, D.C.

She also served as Managing Editor of an economic policy journal at the Institute for International Economics.

As a Bosch Fellow in 1994-95, Ms. Medearis worked in Germany at the Economics Ministry of Brandenburg and at Dresdner Bank, focusing on economic transition in eastern Germany.

In 1990-91, she was an intern at the Commission of the European Communities in Brussels, where she worked on EU accession issues pertaining to Austria.

Ms. Medearis holds a master’s degree in international economics and European studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University.

She spent a year in Freiburg, Germany, as a Fulbright Scholar in 1989-90 and is fluent in German. She lives with her husband, Dale Medearis, and their little daughter, Eliza, in Alexandria, VA.
