Andrzej Milczanowski

Andrzej Stanislaw Milczanowski was the first director of Poland’s civilian intelligence agency in the Solidarity government from 1990-1992. He was appointed minister of interior in 1995.

A famed Solidarity activist and lawyer, Mr. Milczanowski was jailed during Poland’s martial law period in the early 1980s. He emerged from prison to lead strikes and organize anti-government protests in the late 1980s. Mr. Milczanowski has won numerous human rights awards.
