Cheng Hu

Medicinal chemist, Chemocentryx

Cheng Hu is a medicinal chemist at Chemocentryx, a biotech company based in Mountain View, California. Before he joined Chemocentryx, he was a development chemist in Discovery Partners International in South San Francisco from 2002 to 2005.

Cheng came to the United States in 2001 because he was inspired by the original industrial research and development that is happening in Silicon Valley.

From 1996 to 2001, Cheng took several positions in the field of quality management and project management at Shanghai BASF Colorants & Auxiliaries Company, Shanghai Huayuan BASF Company and Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company.

In addition to Chinese and English, Cheng speaks quasi-fluent German, Spanish and basic Japanese.

Cheng received his Master’s Degree of Engineering in Fine Chemicals from East China University of Science and Technology in 1998 and Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Chemistry from Nankai University in 1995.
