Jeffrey Herlihy-Mera

Professor of Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez

Jeffrey Herlihy-Mera is Professor of Humanities at the University de Puerto Rico-Mayagüez and Director of the Instituto Nuevos Horizontes.

He was Obama Fellow at the Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies in 2022. Before that, he was Fulbright Distinguished Chair of American Studies in Budapest in 2019.

Herlihy-Mera’s books include Academic Imperialism, with Héctor Huyke (forthcoming, Provocations Books), Decolonizing American Spanish (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2022), After American Studies: Rethinking the Legacies of Transnational Exceptionalism (Routledge, 2018), Paris in American Literatures (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015) and Hemingway’s Expatriate Nationalism (Rodopi/Brill, 2011).

He has a PhD from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
