Luke Whyte graduated from Saint Michael’s College with a degree in journalism and political theory in May 2005.

He has spent the year since graduation writing freelance and fiction while hitchhiking from Alaska to California and through the midwest and deep south as part of a documentary film project that focuses on the impact of free-market economics on individual lives.

He is financing his travels by working in various industries along the way.

After a month employed as a rigger on offshore supply boats in the Gulf of Mexico, he now resides in Chicago’s South Side, and is waiting tables while laboring over graduate school applications and preparing the logistics to take his writing and film projects into Latin America.
