Ryszard Kapuscinski

Author of “Travels With Herodotus” and Polish Foreign Correspondent

Ryszard Kapuscinski was Poland’s most celebrated foreign correspondent. He spent four decades reporting on Asia, Latin America and Africa where he was posted in China, Poland, Iran and the Congo.

Just out of university in 1955, Kapuscinski told his editor that he would like to go abroad. Dreaming no farther than Czechoslovakia, the young reporter found himself sent to India.

His is also the author of “Shah of Shahs”, “The Emperor”, “The Shadow of the Sun”, “Imperium”, “Another Day of Life” and “The Soccer War.” His books have been translated into 28 languages.

Mr. Kapuscinski was born in 1932 in Pinsk (in what is now Belarus) and died in 2007.
