Stephan Russ-Mohl

Director of the European Journalism Observatory

Stephan Russ-Mohl is Professor of Journalism and Media Management at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana, Lugano and Director of the European Journalism Observatory.

Born in 1950, in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, he studied Public Administration/Public Policy at the University of Konstanz and at Princeton University and completed his professional training in Journalism at the Deutsche Journalistenschule (German School of Journalism), Munich.

He was Professor of Journalism and Media Management at the Institut für Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaften, Freie Universität Berlin from 1985 to 2001.

He was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1989, at the European University Institute (Florence) in 1992 and at the Department of Communication, Stanford University in 1995, 1999 and 2008. He was Gutenberg Fellow at the Research Focus Media Convergence of the University of Mainz 2011/2012.
